About me
I'm an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Stellenbosch University. My work brings together research, teaching and software development.
My research centres on image analysis and machine learning, with applications in 3D microscopy, human pose estimation and face recognition. I also explore how virtual reality can help people visualise and analyse complex data.
My teaching covers computer systems, from digital logic and logic gates to designing a basic CPU using the ARM architecture and ARM programming. I also teach the foundations of probability theory, probability distributions and random processes, and supervise student research across my areas of interest.
Alongside my academic work, I develop web and mobile applications, with recent work using React, and build interactive experiences in Unity. I also enjoy projects that connect software with hardware, including Raspberry Pi and ESP32 applications.
